Pharm D

A Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) is a professional doctor degree program offered by reputed pharmaceutical universities and colleges and is approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). The course comprises of six years with intensive training in pharmacy practice and clinical services. It covers all the aspects of clinical services with essential components of health care during the six years of the program. It is a first professional degree and a prerequisite for licensing to practice the profession of pharmacist.

The Pharm D graduates hold a key role in clinical pharmacists, demonstrate their competencies, understanding, and study of drugs in detail.

Pharm D Course

Duration:

Pharm D course duration is six years (five years of study and one-year internship or residency). The sixth year involves internship or residence training involving specialty units training students, wherein the student is exposed to actual pharmacy practice or clinical pharmacy services and acquires deep knowledge and skills so that he/she may become capable of functioning independently.

Pharm D – (Post Baccalaureate) course is a three-year academic program (two years of study and one-year internship).

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
  1. A pass in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry with Mathematics or Biology as optional subjects from recognized board.
  2. A pass in D Pharm course from reputed university approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).
  3. A student should complete 17 years of age as per the university norms
  4. For Pharm D – (Post Baccalaureate) – A pass in B Pharm from an institution approved by PCI.

After successful completion of the course in Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) or Pharm D (Post Baccalaureate), the student is awarded with the certificate.
